Common Samsung problems we fix
What usually goes wrong, what causes it, and what it means for you. A starting point, not a diagnosis.
Ice maker freezing up
On French-door models with the ice maker in the door, ice can build up in the ice compartment and jam the ice maker, or the fill tube can freeze. A lasting fix addresses the cause, such as the compartment's seal, heater or fan, rather than just melting the ice.
Fridge warm, fan noise, ice on the back wall
Signs of a defrost failure: the evaporator ices over, blocks the airflow and the fan blades hit the ice. We find which part of the defrost system failed (heater, sensor or control) before replacing anything.
5E or SE: washer won't drain
Usually a clogged drain filter at the bottom front, a kinked drain hose or a failed drain pump. Clearing the filter is often the whole fix.
Washer shaking or stopping (UE, dC)
An unbalanced load is the first thing to rule out. If it happens with balanced loads, worn shock absorbers or suspension rods are the usual cause.
Dryer runs but no heat
A blown thermal fuse, a failed heating element on electric models, or a gas valve or igniter fault on gas models. A blocked vent often blows the fuse in the first place, so we check the vent too.

Repair or replace
Is it worth repairing?
Samsung's common faults are individual parts: ice maker components, defrost parts, drain pumps, shock absorbers and dryer heating parts. Repair usually beats replacement on refrigerators and laundry under about eight years old. We tell you when it doesn't.
Still under Samsung's warranty? Call Samsung first: warranty repairs go through the manufacturer's own service network. We're an independent repair company and fix Samsung appliances once the warranty has ended.
Questions
Samsung repair FAQ
Why does my Samsung ice maker keep freezing up?
On French-door models the ice maker sits in a compartment in the door, and if cold air or moisture is not controlled, ice builds up and jams it or the fill tube freezes. Melting the ice only buys time. SOS Appliance Repair finds and fixes the cause, such as a seal, heater or fan.
What does 5E mean on a Samsung washer?
5E (shown as SE on some models) is a drain error: the washer cannot pump water out. Clean the drain filter at the bottom front and check the drain hose for kinks. If the error returns, SOS Appliance Repair can test and replace the drain pump.
Why is there ice on the back wall of my Samsung refrigerator?
Ice on the back panel, often with fan noise and a warm fresh-food section, means the defrost system is not clearing the evaporator. Defrosting by hand, with the refrigerator emptied and unplugged and the doors open for a day, melts the ice and buys time. If the ice comes back within weeks, a defrost heater, sensor or control has failed, and SOS Appliance Repair can find which one.
Do you repair Samsung appliances under warranty?
No. While a Samsung appliance is under the manufacturer's warranty, Samsung arranges repairs through its own authorized service network, so call them first. SOS Appliance Repair is independent and repairs Samsung appliances once the warranty has ended, with its own 12-month parts-and-labor warranty on the work.
