Common Thermador problems we fix
What usually goes wrong, what causes it, and what it means for you. A starting point, not a diagnosis.
Star burner clicking or not lighting
Moisture after cleaning, a burner cap that is not seated, a dirty electrode, or a failing spark module or igniter switch. Drying and reseating first; then we test the ignition parts one by one.
Oven not heating
A failed bake or convection element on electric ovens, a weak igniter on gas ovens, or a faulty temperature sensor or control. The display's error message tells us where to start.
Door locked after self-clean
The door lock mechanism or its switch can fail after the high heat of a self-clean cycle, leaving the oven locked or unable to start. The lock assembly is replaceable.
Column refrigerator warm
Usually a fan, a defrost fault, restricted airflow over the condenser or a worn door seal, not the compressor. We check those first because they are far cheaper to fix.
Ice or water dispenser problems
A blocked or overdue filter, a failed water valve or a frozen line. We check the supply side before the dispenser parts.
Repair or replace
Is it worth repairing?
Thermador cooking and column refrigeration are built in and expensive to replace, often with trim or cabinet work. Their common failures are individual parts, so repair is usually the better value. Parts are often ordered, so a first visit may end with a written estimate and a parts timeline.
Still under Thermador's warranty? Call Thermador first: warranty repairs go through the manufacturer's own service network. We're an independent repair company and fix Thermador appliances once the warranty has ended.
Questions
Thermador repair FAQ
Why does my Thermador burner keep clicking?
Usually moisture or residue on the igniter after a spill or cleaning, or a burner cap that is out of place. Let it dry and reseat the cap. If the clicking continues, the spark module or an igniter switch has likely failed, and SOS Appliance Repair can test and replace it.
Can you repair a Thermador column refrigerator?
Yes. Most warm-column problems are fans, defrost faults, condenser airflow or door seals rather than the compressor. SOS Appliance Repair diagnoses the fault on site and gives a written estimate before any work begins.
Do you repair Thermador appliances under warranty?
No. While a Thermador appliance is under the manufacturer's warranty, Thermador arranges repairs through its own authorized service network, so call them first. SOS Appliance Repair is independent and repairs Thermador appliances once the warranty has ended, with its own 12-month parts-and-labor warranty on the work.
