Common Bosch problems we fix

What usually goes wrong, what causes it, and what it means for you. A starting point, not a diagnosis.

  • E24 or E25: dishwasher not draining

E24 means water is not draining: often a kinked or clogged drain hose, a blocked filter, or a garbage-disposal connection that is blocked (a new disposal's knockout plug left in place is a classic). E25 points to the drain pump: something caught under the pump cover, such as glass or a fruit pit, or a failed pump.

  • E15: water in the base

E15 means the leak-protection float has detected water in the base pan. The leak has to be found and fixed, whether a door seal, a hose or the pump, and the base dried. Too much detergent or tilting the machine can also trigger it.

  • Dishes not drying

Bosch dishwashers dry by condensation, so an empty rinse-aid dispenser is the usual cause. If rinse aid is fine, we check the heater and the drying system.

  • Dishes dirty or gritty

A clogged filter, blocked spray-arm jets or hard-water scale. Cleaning the filter and spray arms and using salt or rinse aid suited to the water often restores performance.

  • Washer or dryer problems

Compact Bosch laundry is common in apartments. A washer that will not drain usually has a blocked pump filter; a ventless dryer that stops drying usually needs its lint filters and condenser cleaned.

  • Integrated refrigerator warm

Fans, defrost faults and blocked airflow cause most warm-refrigerator calls, ahead of any sealed-system problem.

Repair or replace

Is it worth repairing?

Most Bosch dishwasher faults are a pump, hose, valve, heater or sensor, and repairing them costs a fraction of a new built-in dishwasher plus installation. We tell you plainly when a unit's age or a failed control board makes replacement the better choice.

Still under Bosch's warranty? Call Bosch first: warranty repairs go through the manufacturer's own service network. We're an independent repair company and fix Bosch appliances once the warranty has ended.

Questions

Bosch repair FAQ

What does E24 mean on a Bosch dishwasher?

E24 means the dishwasher cannot drain. Check for a kinked drain hose, clean the filter, and if a garbage disposal was installed recently, make sure its knockout plug was removed. If E24 returns, SOS Appliance Repair can check the drain path and the pump.

What does E15 mean on a Bosch dishwasher?

E15 means water has collected in the base pan and the leak-protection float has stopped the cycle. The source of the leak must be found and fixed and the base dried before the dishwasher will run normally. SOS Appliance Repair can locate and repair the leak.

Do you repair Bosch appliances under warranty?

No. While a Bosch appliance is under the manufacturer's warranty, Bosch arranges repairs through its own authorized service network, so call them first. SOS Appliance Repair is independent and repairs Bosch appliances once the warranty has ended, with its own 12-month parts-and-labor warranty on the work.
