Common KitchenAid problems we fix
What usually goes wrong, what causes it, and what it means for you. A starting point, not a diagnosis.
Dishwasher not cleaning
Many KitchenAid dishwashers have a filter you clean by hand, and a clogged filter or blocked spray arms is the usual reason dishes come out dirty. Hard-water scale makes it worse.
Dishwasher leaking
A worn door gasket, a cracked or loose hose, a failing pump seal, or simply the wrong detergent making suds. We find where the water is coming from before replacing anything.
Dishes not drying
An empty rinse-aid dispenser first. If that is not it, the heating or drying system, including the drying fan on models that have one.
Refrigerator not cooling or ice maker stopped
Fans, a defrost fault or a dusty condenser for cooling; water supply, filter, fill valve or a frozen fill tube for ice.
Oven not heating or door locked
A failed bake or convection element, a weak gas igniter, a temperature sensor, or a door lock that has failed after a self-clean cycle.

Is it worth repairing?
KitchenAid appliances are often built into custom cabinetry, which makes replacement more expensive than the appliance alone. Their common faults are single parts, so repair is usually the better value.
Still under KitchenAid's warranty? Call KitchenAid first: warranty repairs go through the manufacturer's own service network. We're an independent repair company and fix KitchenAid appliances once the warranty has ended.
Questions
KitchenAid repair FAQ
Who makes KitchenAid appliances?
KitchenAid has been owned by Whirlpool Corporation since 1986, and KitchenAid major appliances share many parts with Whirlpool and Maytag models. SOS Appliance Repair services all three brands.
Why is my KitchenAid dishwasher leaking?
The most common causes are a worn door gasket, a loose or cracked hose, a failing pump seal, or regular dish soap or too much detergent making suds. Check the door gasket and use dishwasher detergent only. If it still leaks, SOS Appliance Repair can find the source and fix it.
Do you repair KitchenAid appliances under warranty?
No. While a KitchenAid appliance is under the manufacturer's warranty, KitchenAid arranges repairs through its own authorized service network, so call them first. SOS Appliance Repair is independent and repairs KitchenAid appliances once the warranty has ended, with its own 12-month parts-and-labor warranty on the work.
