Common Frigidaire problems we fix
What usually goes wrong, what causes it, and what it means for you. A starting point, not a diagnosis.
Ice maker not making ice
We check the water supply and pressure, an overdue or wrong water filter, the fill valve and a frozen fill tube before replacing the ice maker itself. On a new refrigerator, the first ice usually takes about a day, so give it time before calling.
Fresh food warm, freezer cold
Usually an evaporator fan, a defrost fault that has iced over the coil, or a condenser fan or dusty condenser underneath the unit. These are far more common than a failed compressor, and much cheaper to fix.
Upright freezer frosting up or warm
A worn door gasket or a door left ajar lets humid air in and frost builds quickly. On frost-free models, a defrost heater or timer fault does the same. Garage freezers also struggle when the garage gets very cold or very hot.
Oven not heating or slow to preheat
A failed bake element on electric ranges or a weak glow-bar igniter on gas ranges, the two most common Frigidaire oven repairs. A faulty temperature sensor can make the oven run hot or cold.
Dishwasher not cleaning or draining
A clogged filter, blocked spray arms or a drain pump obstruction. Cleaning the filter regularly prevents most of these calls.
Washer or dryer problems
Front-load washers that won't drain usually have a blocked pump filter; dryers that run without heat usually have a blown thermal fuse or a failed element or igniter, often caused by a clogged vent.
Repair or replace
Is it worth repairing?
Frigidaire's common faults are inexpensive, widely available parts: fans, defrost components, fill valves, igniters, elements and pumps. Repair is usually the better value on appliances under about ten years old, and we tell you plainly when an older unit is not worth the money.

Questions
Frigidaire repair FAQ
Who makes Frigidaire appliances?
Frigidaire has been part of the Swedish Electrolux group since 1986, and Frigidaire and Electrolux appliances share many parts and designs. SOS Appliance Repair services both brands.
Which water filter does my Frigidaire refrigerator use?
Frigidaire refrigerators use several filter families, such as PureSource and PureAdvantage, and they are not interchangeable. The model number on the label inside the fresh-food compartment tells you which one fits. Replace it about every six months, run a few glasses of water through a new filter, and reset the filter light afterwards.
Why is my Frigidaire ice maker not making ice?
Check that the ice maker is switched on, that the water filter is the right one and not overdue, and that the water line is not kinked. If ice still does not come, the fill valve or a frozen fill tube is the usual cause. SOS Appliance Repair checks each before replacing the ice maker.
Do you repair Frigidaire appliances under warranty?
No. While a Frigidaire appliance is under the manufacturer's warranty, Frigidaire arranges repairs through its own authorized service network, so call them first. SOS Appliance Repair is independent and repairs Frigidaire appliances once the warranty has ended, with its own 12-month parts-and-labor warranty on the work.
